Intro

The page readers land on when they open your story: drafted for you by the AI, or built block by block.

Create guidePart of the story page6 min read

The intro is where readers land when they click on your story. There are two ways to create one: have the AI draft it for you, or build it yourself.

Draft one for me

Choose a few options, and the AI puts the whole intro together. Then edit it however you like.

Build it yourself

Add text, image, and decoration blocks one at a time, and arrange them the way you want.

Two ways to make an intro

Have the AI draft it

At the very top of the intro editor is a button that says Draft one for me. Clicking it opens a menu of options for the AI to use when it drafts your intro.

Intro style

There are three main options:

Guided intro

Uses more of the intro's own tools to do the work. Images are mostly just pictures of what they are, with no explanation on them.

Image focused

Most of your information is on the images themselves. This leans toward the way GPT presents information.

Let AI choose

The AI decides which direction works better for your story.

Steer it

Under the style options is a prompt area where you can steer the direction of the AI.

Pictures

Next, choose whether Krea or GPT Image makes the images, and how many images you want it to generate, if any. You can choose 0 to have it generate a layout only, then insert images into it yourself.

Then choose what the images should be of. You can pick characters, places, objects, or moments, or let the AI decide, which also lets it use a mix.

CharactersOnly ones you haven't drawn. Anybody with a picture is placed, never redrawn.
PlacesThe setting, the weather over it, the architecture.
ObjectsThe thing the plot turns on, the thing left behind.
MomentsA room before anybody enters, an aftermath, a light in a window.
What each subject gives you

You can also choose which images you've already uploaded to the story should be used.

Draft it

Press Draft it, and the AI spends a few minutes putting everything together. You can leave the page, and you'll get a notification when it's finished. Then load the draft into the editor and edit it however you like.

  2. WaitIt takes a few minutes. You can leave the page.

If any part doesn't generate, the credits for that part are refunded. If you order three images and only two arrive, you pay for two.

You pay for 2. The third is refunded.
Example: three images ordered, two delivered

Build it yourself

To make the intro yourself, go down to the main box and start adding blocks. There are three main block types: text, image, and decoration.

Text

Words you write, styled as a paragraph, heading, or quote.

Image

A picture or video, uploaded, generated, or reused.

Decoration

Spacing or an ornament between other blocks.

The three block types

Text

A text block is a block you can write inside. Text blocks have two sets of edit options.

Selected text applies an edit to the part of the text you've selected: bold, italics, color, or a link. The editor shows you a preview of how it will look.

The shrine has stood on the mountain for three hundred years, and no one has ever seen who lights its lanterns.

Example: bold applied to a selection

Whole block edits apply to the block as a whole. First, choose the style of the text. Paragraph keeps it in a typical format. Heading makes it stand out, and works best with less text. Quote puts it in a quote box.

Paragraph

The village keeps its doors shut after the first snow.

Heading

The Fox-Fire Shrine

Quote

"Gods do not un-notice."

The three text styles

You can also choose the font, the size of the text, how it's aligned, a color for the whole block, and bold or italics. To see a font change, highlight the text.

Background puts a color or a picture behind the words.

Image

Image blocks let you upload images, or use ones you already have, to make your intro more visually interesting.

  • Click the plus to upload from your device, the same as Upload image.
  • Generate image creates an image for that block. Describe the image you want, or have the AI write a description from everything it knows about your story.
  • Add a negative prompt to tell the AI what you don't want, such as extra fingers or a specific item.
  • Image model lets you choose between Krea and GPT Image, and Shape sets whether the image is landscape, portrait, or square.
  • Or pick an image you've already uploaded to the story.

The edit options for an image block are at the top. You can change the type of media to a video, then paste a YouTube or Vimeo link. Background puts a color behind your image.

Width lets you put several pieces together on the same row. It's especially effective on desktop.

Example: two half-width images on one row, then a full-width image

Decoration

Decoration blocks add spacing or decorative elements between your other blocks. Choose the type of element under Decoration. Background puts a color or an image behind the decoration.

Every block

Reuse lets you duplicate a block, or copy and paste its style. The arrows on the left move the block up and down, and the X deletes it.

To edit another block, select it. Selecting a block also lets you add a new block below it.

Preview and save

Once you've made a change, undo and redo buttons appear at the top. There's also a mobile and a desktop preview, so you can see how everything fits together on different devices.
