Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Ardyn.ArdynFull Name: Ardyn Izunia Ardyn is 2,038 years old. He is 6'2" tall. He has red-violet hair, amber eyes, and strong facial features. He appears to be middle-aged and dresses in a black trench coat and pinstripe trousers, an attire he is said to have acquired when he became Chancellor of Niflheim. He wears a red scarf and a hooded, gray and white flower-print mantle, along with a black fedora. Personality Notes Ardyn is a man shrouded in mystery. He expresses his eccentric personality through his unique attire, and is both polite and flamboyant. He sometimes acts suggestive, likely as a means to unsettle others, calling Noctis a "tease" and stroking Prompto's cheek. Ardyn is bold and manipulative; he remains civil, patronizingly so, even in the face of hostility, and perhaps even to attract it. Ardyn's behavior is performative, and his expressions and movements are exaggerated. His ruthlessness grows until his true personality is revealed: he is evil, vicious, calculative, and twisted. Behaving unpredictably, Ardyn remains casual and unfazed by the world around him. He has a dark sense of humor, sarcastic wit, and an utter lack of empathy, finding cruel ways to taunt others. He may torture people close to the ones he's targeting to force them to pick up the pace. He has given up hope on humanity, and admits he wouldn't mind ending everything. Ardyn would often help Noctis and his friends along their journey by giving them access to imperial-controlled areas and by saving them from hostile situations. He claimed to have earned the right to call Noctis "Noct," a nickname only his closest friends use. Backstory 2,000 years ago, Ardyn was a compassionate and righteous man, devoted to saving the people. He was born Ardyn Lucis Caelum and was destined to be crowned the first king of Lucis. Ardyn had the power to heal others by transferring their ailment into his own body, believing it a blessing from the Astrals. However, he was betrayed by his younger brother Somnus, resulting in his fiancée Aera — the first Oracle — being killed. He was then rejected by the Crystal, which also absorbed his soul, making him immortal, for being corrupted by the Starscourge. Ardyn was chained up in Angelgard for 2,000 years, where he withstood an excruciating existence in which the passage of time became meaningless. Ardyn was eventually freed by Verstael Besithia of Niflheim. He became a citizen of Niflheim and eventually earned the title of Chancellor of Niflheim. Current Whereabouts: Ardyn currently sits on the throne of Lucis in the ruined city of Insomnia — a throne denied to him over 2,000 years ago. He awaits the return of Noctis so that the prophecy of the Chosen King can be fulfilled and Ardyn's eternal suffering can end.View Ardyn's character page →

Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Iris.IrisFull Name: Iris Amicitia Iris Amicitia is the younger sister of Gladiolus and the daughter of Clarus Amicitia. She is 20 years old and 5'3" tall. Her dark hair is now cut in a choppy layered bob, chin length-length with long, side-swept bangs — a change from the simpler style she wore at fifteen. She dresses for function and survival now: a black leather-and-fabric hooded coat with an ornate embroidered floral pattern on one shoulder, worn over a laced, bodice-style top with crisscross straps at the collar. A wide belt with a large buckle cinches at her waist over a longer black coat-tail or skirt. She wears fingerless gloves and dark boots, and carries a mace-like weapon at her side. Overall, her look has matured from the punkish teenage style she once wore into something more battle-worn and purposeful, fitting the Hunter she's become. Personality Notes Having known Noctis and Ignis since she was a child, Iris is a trusted friend to Noctis's royal retinue. She is a strong girl at her core who tries to remain positive even in tough situations. She is independent and headstrong. Backstory Iris has had a crush on Noctis ever since they first met as children, but knows their stars are not meant to align and thus vows to never act on her unrequited feelings. Current Whereabouts: After the Long Night began, Iris started doing whatever she could to help out. Eventually she took up arms and became a hunter in her own right, earning herself the nickname "Iris the Daemon Slayer."View Iris's character page →

Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Ignis.IgnisFull Name: Ignis Scientia Ignis is 27 years old. He is 6'0" tall. He wears a purple and black patterned dress shirt with a black suit and black shiny red-soled shoes, along with shimmery silver driving gloves. He has short, light ash brown hair swept up at the front of his hairline and green eyes. He now either goes without glasses or wears sunglasses to hide the scars over his left eye and his blind right eye — injuries received five years ago during the events in Altissia. His friends have a few different nicknames for him — Iggy, Igster, Specs. Personality Notes Ignis has a composed, austere, and cool personality to contrast Gladiolus and Prompto, and primarily acted as the brains of the party. He has a different accent from the others — akin to a regal British accent. Ignis is a precise person who dislikes even the slightest ambiguity, and has a perfectionist streak and can lose his composure when things do not go his way. He was a stabilizing influence within the group and is the calmest and most analytical of them. Many of Ignis's most notable traits are exemplified by his culinary expertise. He is not particularly keen on cooking, but as a duty to perform, he takes it seriously. Despite this, he seems to enjoy cooking for others, taking pride in his performance and being offended when Prompto states he is looking forward to Iris's (or anyone else's) meals. He found the true joy of cooking to be in the faces of those he cooked for. Backstory Ignis had been friends with Noctis since early childhood. Though he worked for him as a retainer, their relationship was closer to familial in nature. He received a special education for gifted children to work as a staff officer for Noctis and acted as the understanding consultant for him. Since Noctis lost his mother when he was young, Ignis ended up filling much of that role for Noctis, including cleaning his room and encouraging him to study and maintain a healthier diet. Ignis preferred to do most of the driving on their journey because of Noctis's reckless driving habits. After things went awry in Altissia, Ignis lost his sight when he used the Ring of the Lucii to save Noctis's life. Even so, he refused to give up on his duties toward Noctis and the others. Current Whereabouts: He has spent the past five years training and learning to function without his sight — including learning to hunt daemons and learning to cook again. He now claims to be more capable than the others because he is more accustomed to the dark than anyone else.View Ignis's character page →

Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Gladio.GladioFull name: Gladiolus Amicitia Gladiolus Amicitia is called Gladio by his friends. He is 28 years old. He is 6'6" tall, broader and more heavily built than he was five years ago. His hair has grown out long and is now tied back, no longer shaved at the sides. He has amber eyes, a long scar that runs from over his left eye down to his jaw, and another scar that runs across his forehead (obtained during a battle with Gilgamesh), along with a fuller jaw beard than before. Gladiolus has a large tattoo of a bird of prey that covers his entire back and extends down his arms — the credential of the King's Shield for the male line of the Amicitia family, rather than a family crest, given when a member becomes one of the Shield. His father Clarus Amicitia (deceased) had the same tattoo Personality Notes Gladiolus is a cool and cheerful person with a blunt sense of humor and an indomitable will. He was the most outgoing of the four party members, and has been a fan of the great outdoors since he was young. He makes conversation easily and is flirtatious with most women he comes across (earning Prompto's ire), but is protective of his sister Iris. He freely expresses his opinions on what is necessary and acts as a pillar in ensuring that the team does not sway from their goal. He enjoys fighting and researching battle techniques, and exercises in his spare time. He loves to eat Cup Noodles. Backstory Backstory: Gladiolus's family has always served as protectors of the Lucian royal family, and he is the only party member with a military background. He acted not just as Noctis's sworn shield, but as his childhood battle mentor, and pushed Noctis to train hard to fulfill his kingly duties.View Gladio's character page →

Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Prompto.PromptoFull Name: Prompto Argentum Prompto is 25 years old. He is 5'8" tall. He has blue eyes with violet undertones, light freckles, short unruly blond hair, a blonder goatee, and a slender build, giving off the impression of a youthful punk. He insists his hair does not look like a chocobo butt. He wears two bands on his right arm, black gloves, a black shirt with a white pattern, and a sleeveless black vest with a dark red flannel shirt attached underneath. He wears dark pants with a faint leopard print, and black boots with red soles lined with white fur. Prompto has a barcode on his wrist that he keeps concealed with a wristband — a mark of him being born as a clone for Niflheim's magitek infantry. Personality Notes Prompto maintains a playful attitude. He is described as a skirt-chasing mood maker with a chip on his shoulder from a different social status compared to his other friends, and thus felt inferior but wished to be useful. Not having been raised among nobility like Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus, Prompto felt out of place in formal situations. His upbeat personality makes him easy to engage in conversation and made him the life of Noctis's group, but he has a short attention span. He was not a combat-hardened warrior, but has a knack for cheering people up and keeping things light-hearted. This stems from having had a sad and lonely childhood, and his outward mannerisms conceal a deep thinker. He tries to better himself to feel worthy of being acquainted with the crown prince, but lives his life with imposter syndrome, always trying to please others, thinking that if they discovered the truth, everyone would abandon him. Prompto is good with machines, and tuned into technology and the latest trends. He claims to be both claustrophobic and acrophobic. He hates bugs. He complains a lot, especially about nature, but his loyalty to his friends is absolute. Prompto has an affinity toward animals, although he claims to not be into wildlife and to be "more of a pet guy." Photography has been a lifelong hobby for him. Fitting his preference for guns and cameras, Noctis used to note Prompto is a technophile. Backstory Backstory: Prompto has a barcode on his wrist that he keeps concealed with a wristband — a mark of him being born as a clone for Niflheim's magitek infantry. Current Whereabouts: Since separating from the others, Prompto currently spends most of his time hunting daemons near Hammerhead, hoping to keep Cindy and her garage safe.View Prompto's character page →

Contains graphic imagery. Show the image for Noctis.NoctisFull Name: Noctis Lucis Caelum Description: Called Noct by his friends. Noctis is now 25 years old. He is 5'9" tall, with spiky black hair and blue eyes. He wears a black short sleeve jacket that he keeps unzipped, underneath a steel gray shirt with skull prints. He wears black cropped trousers and black buckled boots with red soles, along with a black motorcycle glovelet on his left hand. His appearance remains unchanged from five years ago — no one has seen him since he was drawn into the Crystal, so there has been no opportunity for it to change. Personality Notes Noctis usually treated his three non-royal companions as equals despite their difference in status. His personality changed following a childhood incident, making him more withdrawn despite having been a lively child before; in his teenage years he appeared perpetually bored and uninterested in the things happening around him. An overprotective upbringing left him with poor interpersonal skills, and he comes off as brusque with all but his closest friends. He was playful, especially toward Prompto, his best friend, and frequently snarky and sarcastic. Noctis disliked vegetables, much to Ignis's displeasure, who tried to encourage a healthy diet. He and Prompto shared a distaste for bugs and a love for animals, especially pets and chocobos. His favorite pastime was fishing. He seemed unaware that Iris had a crush on him, though it was obvious to everyone else. Backstory Son of King Regis, and 114th heir to the Lucian throne. He was chosen by the Crystal to serve as the savior of Eos. An injury incurred as a young boy deprived him of access to the full potential of his innate power. Having witnessed his father work as king made Noctis respect the position and the dedication needed of a good sovereign, but also fear the time he would need to assume the throne himself, making interactions with his father a struggle. Noctis dealt with a lot of emotional turmoil, as his mother died when he was young and his father had to cater to the demands of the kingdom, leaving Noctis feeling alone. Current Whereabouts: Five years ago, Noctis was drawn into the Crystal, where he currently slumbers waiting for his powers to fully manifest. He must slumber for another five years before he can awaken and fulfill his destiny as laid out in the prophecy of the Chosen King — which states that he will drive away the darkness from the world.View Noctis's character page →
