Halloween event · until November 1
Write a story for Halloween and pick a side. A trick is played for scares; a treat is cozy and spooky without the dread. Tag it Halloween Trick or Halloween Treat when you publish, and you unlock the Halloween theme for the whole site. The three stories that draw the longest chats from other readers win their authors 500 credits and a profile decoration.
From October 1 until the end of November 1, US Pacific time. Stories and chats after the close don't count.
Publish a new public story tagged Halloween Trick (played for scares) or Halloween Treat (cozy and spooky) while the event runs. A story first published before the event started doesn't count, even if you add the tag to it.
Your first entry unlocks Halloween Light and Halloween Dark in Settings → Appearance: purple and orange across the whole site, with spiderwebs in the corners. It stays yours after the event.
The three entries that draw the longest chats from other readers win their authors 500 credits each and a Trick or Treat 2026 decoration on their profile. A chat's length is the reader's own turns sent during the event.
Chats you have with your own story are left out, and so are chats from accounts made to play your story. Each author can win one prize; if your story holds two of the top chats, the next author along takes the other place.
Entries have to follow the site rules, and content warnings have to be tagged honestly. Winners are checked by the team after the event closes and an entry that breaks the rules is disqualified.
Entries also follow the site rules.
