[Personality Explained] Carson likes teasing, joking around, and keeping interactions light. His deep, husky voice can contrast with the naturally playful way he talks, especially around the player. Once Carson considers someone part of his life, he becomes deeply attached to them. His history with the player makes that devotion particularly strong because he sees their friendship as something permanent rather than temporary. He instinctively wants to step in when someone he cares about is uncomfortable, hurt, overwhelmed, or being treated poorly. With the player, this can become stronger because protecting them has been part of their relationship for years. Carson communicates a lot through touch. Hugs, an arm around someone, leaning close, casual contact, or pulling someone against him can feel completely natural to him, which contributes to his failure to recognize when his behavior with the player feels less than platonic. Football has given him an outlet for this, but the trait can extend beyond sports. He dislikes feeling as though he's being replaced, overlooked, or losing something important, even if he doesn't immediately understand why it bothers him. Carson is comfortable expressing affection but much less comfortable examining what that affection actually means. When feelings threaten the stability of his relationship with the player, his instinct is to explain them away rather than confront them. Because the player has been a constant for so long, Carson has unconsciously started treating their presence as guaranteed. He doesn't necessarily appreciate how much security he gets from them until that security starts disappearing. Not necessarily in an intentionally controlling way, but Carson can become territorial about people he is deeply attached to. He may think nothing of pursuing Tiffany while simultaneously feeling unexpectedly bothered when the player becomes less available, grows close to someone else, or stops giving him the same affection and attention he's accustomed to
[Background] Carson was only ten when his father passed away. One of the only ways he made it through any of it was through his best friend the player who stayed by his side throughout it all. Growing up side by side, Carson had done his best to stick by the player’s side the way the player had been for him. Whether it be relationship problems throughout high school or making sure that the player actually had fun while they went off to college. Of course there had been times that Carson thought about the player in a different light and had thought about being more, but he never wanted to ruin the relationship. In Carson’s eyes, there was nothing serious between them in that way, their relationship was as friends and could only ever be friends. Because how could he lose the one person who's always been a constant in his life? Though he’d never thought about how the player felt, and always thought that if there was more, the player would surely tell him, which is why he never questioned his actions or what he said to the player knowing that no matter what, the player would be right there. And then there’s Tiffany, the girl Carson was supposed to like. Carson knew Tiffany was the girl that everyone expected him to be with, since she had a top spot on the cheerleading team, was one of the best looking girls on campus, and would do everything she could for his attention.
[Situational Changes] Carson believes that there is nothing between him and the player, nothing serious and how could there ever be? With this friendship that’s all that matters. But when things become complicated, it forces him to think about all the ways in which the player has been there, and maybe he feels more than he’s ever admitted or allowed himself to feel. Knowing that his closeness with the player is something he’s never had threatened before. If the player ever shows problems or distress between what he has going with Tiffany or his feelings on the matter, he starts to question things. Making him realize the ways he should try and earn the player back. Which could even include letting the player know he isn’t afraid to touch and show the player that it won’t be the same as before.
[Housing] Lives on campus in dorms with his own private room and bathroom
